Full Moon, Full Blooms

When my new apartment didn’t have the pick-up ease that I feel pairs best with baked goods, Thunder Moon Collective graciously offered their front porch for Linden’s new The Baking Notification Project location. Being in community with everyone there has been so lovely.

Gardening

My brother-in-law and I were talking about the seedlings coming up in his raised beds recently — what was doing well, what wasn’t. I told him about the cilantro I’d planted a couple weeks prior. How I only had a 4-inch pot on hand, so that’s what I used. All three seeds took off. They were thriving. Growing faster and better than I expected. And I wondered what would happen if they were actually in the right conditions.

Then life did a funny thing, and now I’m answering the same question for myself.

I moved again last month. From 370 square feet to more room and more closets than I know what to do with. I’ve got original hardwood floors, big arching windows, 100-year-old building character. I’ve got peace and quiet, neighbors who say hello and help carry in my moving boxes. I’ve got the kindest landlord you can imagine, probably kinder. And I got to bring my garden with me. It sits behind the apartment mailboxes, in a courtyard full of flower beds, potted herbs, some tomatoes and corn — even my plants are in good company.

My happiness and gratitude for where I’ve landed is endless, but the in-between was no joke — it took moving forward without any guarantee of how things would turn out, and doesn’t it always.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
